WATER QUALITY

Given the developing water contamination issues in Grateley village, I wanted to reassure everyone in Cholderton & Shipton Bellinger that the water supply here has no links to Southern Water’s network and that water is safe to drink. We have no water quality issues.

For your peace of mind, water is tested at random end supply point by independent Wessex Laboratories once a week and chlorination levels are checked twice daily.

NOTE – CLOUDY WATER

Following the issues last week, empty reservoirs and pipelines have allowed air to access the network resulting in air bubbles in the supply. This often results in a cloudy appearance to water from the tap. This is however, simply air that will rise and disperse if left for a few moments. This may continue for days until the air has cleared the system. The water is perfectly safe to drink.

            REPORT A NETWORK LEAK

Help us reduce leaks & conserve water

As a small business, we rely very much on our customers to report any suspicion of a leak across our network. Sometimes leaks are quite easy to spot especially when you can hear the sound of rushing water or a burst pipe or even see water escaping from our mains pipes.

Other leaks are not quite as obvious, especially if the cause of the leak is underground. In these cases, escaped water often rises to the surface which gives us clues to their approximate location such as:

water running or pooling in the street, puddles of water during fine weather, wet boggy ground.

LET US KNOW IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE SPOTTED A LEAK IN OUR NETWORK USING THE FORM BELOW OR BY TELEPHONE.

WE REALLY DO APPRECIATE YOUR HELP. IN FACT, IF YOU ARE THE FIRST PERSON TO REPORT A SPECIFIC LEAK IN OUR NETWORK, WE WILL REWARD YOU WITH A £25 CREDIT ON YOUR NEXT WATER BILL
